Dyson DC24 Multi Floor  Ultra-lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner delivered FREE!

I've floor-tested this machine on tiles, wood and carpet for about 6 months now and I'm very impressed with it's usability, design and cleaning results. First impressions once out of the box were that is was smaller than anticipated (if you have a large house you may be better off with the DC25) and the design was a bit "busy". However, once I found the quick start booklet, I was up and running within 2 minutes. It really is brilliantly designed with lots of nice touches. The track is narrow but this means it gets into places that no Hoover has ever been before, and as it picks up first time, cleaning time is greatly reduced. The ball design works well and it turns quicker than Michael Owen (the Liverpool years). The suction unit and brushes are very far forward so it picks-up right at the front, again a good time-saver. It has a button to switch off the brushes when on hard floors. The collector is not huge but emptying is a doddle - just don't press that red button BEFORE you're over a bin (like I did). Pull out the handle, turn it round and click it into place and there's your suction arm. No spider is safe with this machine in action. If James Bond did the vacuuming, he'd use one of these. It only comes with one tool end which cleverly switches between nozzle and brush but the brush is too easily pushed back in for my liking. The "main" booklet is a few pages long and mostly pretty pictures but they explain everything well, particularly when it comes to filter cleaning. Removing the filter from the ball is a bit fiddly the first time but ok once you know what you're doing. Note - the instructions say that the filters should be cleaned every month, and not every 3-6 months as stated in the amazon product description. Every month seems a bit over the top to be honest but I guess it depends how much it gets used. I don't have a dog or cat so can't comment on how well it picks up pet hairs, it may be worth checking other models and reviews for that. I'd recommend the Dyson Soft Dusting Brush Removing the ball filter for cleaning is a bit tricky (make sure the vac is laid right back first) This is my first Dyson as I've previously been a bit put off by the price and size but this is compact and not too expensive on here. It's a Grand Design in your kitchen cupboard :o) * UPDATE MAY 2010 * After 2 years loyal service, and a couple of accidental tumbles down the stairs, it's still working as good as ever and I see it now comes with additional tools (no doubt in response to my comments lol!), hence I've upped my rating to vac-tastic 5 stars :o)

After our vacuum handle snapped off, my mother went out on a mission to replace it with a budget cleaner. Two weeks later, after purchasing 6 machines and taking them all back, either due to them having no tools, being too heavy or just blocking up, she was pursuaded to pay the significantly larger amount for the DC24. And she has never been more pleased. It's light enough for her to carry up the stairs and across the carpet, especially important due to her RSI, and yet it still packs enough power to leave the carpets like new. The collapsing handle means it can be stored under a shelf in a small cupboard, and the emptying is easier and less messy than the others she had tried - you simply take the sealed clear bin off the cleaner, walk to the outside bin, and press the empty button. Despite the small size of the bin, it gets only half full after cleaning a two bedroomed terraced house. The brushbar is easy to turn off, so previously uncleaned rugs and hard floors are a doddle. The hose may not reach to the top of a staircase, but the machine is so light, you can walk up the stairs carrying it, so it's not a problem. I would recommend this for people with smaller homes, flats, those with joint problems or the growing old, and those with much larger homes may find one with a larger hose/cable more suitable.

As an arthritic sufferer I have many problems keeping my house clean. Thank goodness I purchased the Dyson DC24. It is so easy to use. No strain or pressures on my body anywhere whilst operating. Amazed at how dirty my house was - two almost full containers of dirt and dust removed in two days! Makes me feel ashamed - but now I feel clean. Thank you.

I had never used a Dyson before and my preconception was that they are massively over-priced for a vacuum cleaner. When my cheap cylinder cleaner finally packed-in I looked around for an upright that was compact but effective and this new DC24 model just caught my eye and I thought I'd give it a chance, though it was about £50 more than my budget. The Amazon deal was the best one I could find. When it arrived the next day I was shocked by how compact it really is. The performance is phenomenal though - it pulls up vastly more dust than my cylinder did and the motorized brush bar is a great advantage. The thing that strikes you most though is how well thought out the whole design is - the little features like converting the handle to a cleaning wand and the ease of emptying the bin are what really makes the cost justifiable. Buy one, you won't regret it!

I love my Dyson. It's so light and simple to use. The ball makes it so easy to move and I feel like I'm dancing rather than Hoovering! It's easy to fit together when you first get it with the instructions being really easy to understand. It's just as good as a full size dyson but with the added benefit of it being easier to store due to it's collapsable handle. It's really great on the stairs because of it's light weight. Really worth the money and by far Amazon has the best prices around for this one.

When our vacuum broke down, I decided to buy the cheapest replacement I could find. Big mistake since it simply didn't do the job (no suction whatsoever) and so I decided to return that one and do a bit of research before I try again. I eventually settled on the DC24. I still feel guilty about the amount I spent on a vacuum, but I have to say it does a brilliant job. I was incredibly surprised how much dust I manage to collect with this. It got to a point where the carpets looked clean, yet I was able to fill a further load. Just be careful when you empty it out as the first time I accidently emptied the contents out onto the floor - wasn't a problem though, since it took a couple of seconds to vacuumed it all up again. Expensive (I'm not saying it's not deserved), but does come with a 5 year guarantee.

I agonised for weeks before I bought this... did I need HEPA filtration or not, was it just a gimmick... Well as someone who sneezed everytime I vacuumed, using this is so, so impressive. Yes, the amount of dirt (not fluff, it was d-i-r-t) that it got out of the carpet was impressive, but the fact that I didn't sneeze once more than justifies the price. Aside from the HEPA filtration, the ball makes it easy to whizz around furniture, and the suction is incredible. The only slighly negative point it that it's a bit heavy - but my nose and I can more than live with that. I never thought I'd be raving over a vacumm cleaner, but it's like my new toy right now.

Having used Dysons for several years I recently lost custody of the ball full size machine and moved into a bungalow. Storage is at a premium so the small size and retracting handle appealled. This machine does it all, very light, very easy to use and incrediblely efficient. My mother has also brought one and despite Lupus and RA can fly round the house getting into all the nooks and crannies that even a full size ball cannot reach. I really cannot fault it at all. Dyson does it again. PS can you bring back your washing machines too?

Like many houses we just don't seem to have enough storage, so rather than opt for the full size DC25 we bought the DC24. I am a Dyson sceptic & was ready to give this item a slating but it's brilliant & not just for small houses & flats. The build quality & design is great ~ it has 2 motors, one for the suction & a seperate one for the beater bar (which you can turn off). The cleaning performance is superior to our Henry + Panasonic & vax uprights, it's also quite quiet.Being smaller you will have to empty it more, a small price to pay for such convenience. Never before have the kids been so eager to do housework! Thoroughly recommended & not just for small properties.

ATTENTION ALL TERRIER OWNERS! This is the first vacuum I have ever owned which my Jack Russell won't attack. It may be that the motor has a different tone, but apart from an initial bark (JUST HAD TO!)she ignores it and lets me get on with the job and it picks up every hair!! This is my first Dyson, apart from my handheld. This is truly the best ever cleaner, light and easy to use. I reeled with shock at the amount of dirt it removed from my carpet which had been cleaned the day before with my old cylinder. I can't believe how I have struggled with my old cleaner all these years, now I am actually enjoying what used to be a chore. Amazons price as ever was excellent, as was their free delivery.
